WOOHOOO!!! wonton making was a success. GO US! (i get 51% of the credit ;) )
background information: what should we make next, after last friday's meal of tomato and egg rice? WONTONS! that's right. u heard me. did i know how to make these babies? heck no. so after countless tries of calling my mom in taiwan, i finally got thru thanx 2 help of my dad(i had the phone number wrong, NO WONDER). it's kind of a problem explaining how much meat to buy and how much to put inside, b/c according to my mom(and tony's mom), it's a 'go by feeling' kinduva thing. yesyes. so frank, tony, and i make the trek up and down the hill to the tiny 3 aisle korean grocery store to buy some wonton skins and cooking wine. that was quite the journey, watching tony sprint to try and catch the bus. hahaha man, it was frickin hilarious. course he MISSED it. hahahahahaha. anyways, sooOo...i tried my hand @ using "feeling" to make the meatish stuff of the wontons. err...hmm. about 1 lb of ground pork, our in some cooking wine, some vegetable oil, a bit of ginger(turns out i didnt use enuf), and about 3 packets of stolen soy sauce from the UC. yup, that's right. i 4got to add salt. so my wontons turned out a bit bland. OUR wontons. sorri, u get 49% of the credit. o yea! and we put shrimps inside them too. are we professionals? and we had just enough meat. YEA! yayyyy! then again i stir fried some vegetables(man, i cant live w/out those). i did 'da bai tsai'(supposedly called savoy cabbage or something??) and bean sprouts. BEAN SPROUTS! it's a shame i didnt have more time to peel off the roots like my mommy always does, but man they were yummy. my hands still smell like garlic from yesterday tho. that stuff infuses like MAD into your skin.
