WARNING: this blog contains lots of words. pictures @ the end.
I decided that since i have time now, i'm going 2 do my "reflection on the past year" entry now instead of later.
Well, to wrap it up, this has been quite an interesting and exciting year. i'm really glad to have gotten the chance to go out of state for college. it's a bit intimidating @ the beginning, having to essentially start all over. i came knowing 1 person(pheebs) who i didnt really hang out w/ anyways. then there was latika(never met her) and kenny(my cousin), who i again hardly talked to before i came to cmu.
I was a bit apprehensive @ 1st, after hearing about my potential roommates. btw, all of us are from houston. weird, huh? margot went to st. agnes, and christina was from clements. from what i heard from other people, yea. we'll leave it @ that. maybe it was bad that i came w/ that impression, but it's all good. the rooming situation turned out pretty well. all 3 of us sleep @ around the same time, around 1-2ish. sometimes earlier, sometimes later. anyways, what i think a lot of people dont understand is that there are other issues beneath what u guys see. hmm...this sounds all convoluted. basically, sometimes we make judgements when we dont know the whole story. anyways, minus the minor annoyances, our rooming went quite smoothly this year.
from the beginning of the year, i've essentially changed to 3 different groups of ppl that i hang out w/ on a daily basis. it's not a bad thing; i'm still friends w/ all of them. i'd like to say that i'm really happy w/ my friends that i've made this year. going to a school out of state requires you to go out and meet all these new people, and i find that to be way kool. most people i met are from the east coast, which isnt so bad considering i am now also an east coaster. coaster. for cups. hahah ok. yea.
i started this year keeping track of how many weeks i'd had been here, but somewhere around november, i lost count. i guess that was the point where i started to get used to it here. it took me an entire year to get really adjusted, and i'm not even sure if i'm fully adjusted now. there was the whole 'pittsburgh weather' crap, and the crappy transportation system(altho it's better than NO mass transportation like houston), and like every1 talks about, the fact i actually have to work really hard to get good grades. btw, cmu is known as the ivy reject. basically, every1 who gets rejected from their top school comes here, and i am no exception. yea, anyways, most ppl had pretty ez high school lives, including me. it was competitive, but i cant compare it to places like sty or boarding school, or w/e. 1st semester was so dang hard w/ physics, my hardest class ever. i got in a C in it, but it's all good, cuz it's over. i never worked harder for a subject than in physics. glad i never have to take it again. this semester i'm doing pretty well. w/ physics out of the way and pretty good TAs, life looks good. next semester schedule looks to be pretty tough. 54 units, which is equivalent to 6 classes. keep your fingers crossed that i do well. the plan is to study abroad spring semester in australia. woot woot!
living in resnik next year, which is a pretty nice dorm, w/ patty. i hope that rooming situation will turn out well, i dont really foresee any problems. plus, tony and kenny will also be living there, so that's always good. :)
there was also the fact that i met such a spiffy guy and i am so incredibly lucky. because of our relationship, the pis are now in existence. go pis! anyways, it's been almost 6 months. i dont what to say here, all of our friends know what's up here. og baby. hahaha.
to all my friends that i've met this year, it's been really really kool. u guys all crack me up like no other. u guys are all so smart, i love talking to people who are smart and have stuff to talk about. i love sitting there at lunch reading the ny times, getting into random arguments like whether or not pigs sweat, talking about drawing on dress shoes(HAHAHA), just hanging out. yall are awesome.
i know i've left out a lot of stuff, but it's all good. the point is that cmu might not b the best school in the world, and pittsburgh might suck nuts, but it's not so bad when u have hilarious people to hang out w/. i look 4ward to my next 3(hopefully 4) years here w/ u guys.
and now, for some pictures of this past weekend and some from the pirates game.
OK, i know this isnt really a picture from here. doesnt ann look so cute? that's the prez of stanford, or something like that.
